Hi, Cindy, and welcome! I have this same leg pain. It comes and goes for me. I think it's siatica and I don't think it's caused by fibro. It originates in your back. I have lots of back problems and scoliosis so something like this wasn't unexpected. Here is a link about siatica.
For me, moist heat helps me. I either take a hot shower with my Shower Massage or I will use a Bed Buddy. You can find these at Walgreen's and other places or you can make one by taking a tube sock, filling it 2/3's full of raw long grain rice and tying a knot on the end. Pop it in the microwave and it gives off moist heat due to the moisture in the rice. Also, I find if I walk a little that it helps with the pain.
I had a gentle massage yesterday and she massaged my back but stayed way from the hips, etc. And, today, the pain is much better. She said that if she massaged my hips (where the pain would run down into my legs) that it could irritate it more. Since everything is connected, she worked on my back and it has helped me.
I'm sorry you are going through this. Oh, and I'm lumpy too! I've had a lump on my upper arm for ages and if I lightly press on it, it is tender. I just ignore it like I do most of the other symptoms of fibro. If I dwell on all of this, I would be one miserable person. Instead I focus on other things and the pain fades into the background some.
I hope you get some relief from the leg pain. It's very uncomfortable and mine will keep me up at night. Oh! I almost forgot something. I use a gel called Sombra. I use the Warm Therapy one. If I get that achy pain and it just won't stop, I'll put a little Sombra on the area and it settles it down! I've never had anything like this. My massage therapist gave it to me. I also have it in a roll on. I keep that on my nightstand and if I get any unrelenting pain at night, I just grab that, roll it on, and go back to sleep....without even getting out of bed!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
