What a horrible, ignorant doctor you have! RUN from this idiot! He should be reported...really! Qbana, I've had fibro for 25 years and have had a full and enjoyable life in spite of it. I've traveled overseas and many places in the US, raised three beautiful children, and still am enjoying my life. Yes, we have pain but we learn how to get in control of it and live our lives. Fibro doesn't generally get worse over time, either. I'm a little worse but I'm also 25 years older! People, even healthy people, get more aches and pains as they age. So, ignore that fool and start living your life!
Be sure to find a doctor that treats fibromyalgia patients. There are still some doctors out there in the Dark Ages and you don't want to waste your time with them. Ask, before making an appointment, if your doctor treats fibro patients. I think I said this in my other post to you but it is very important. You know, fibromyalgia is recognized by the American Medical Association, the National Institutes of Health, the American College of Rheumatology, and the World Health Organization just to name a few. So, fibro is a true illness.
Just take each day at a time, do gentle exercises daily...like walking...pace yourself, find what helps you be in control of the pain, and go and enjoy your life. I've done everything I've wanted to do because I work around fibro to do it. You can too.
Don't let some moron put these ideas in your head. That can destroy your life. Keep a positive outlook because you really have far more to be thankful for. There is an article in Fibro 101 about maintaining a positive attitude and I really love it. This has helped me about as much as any medication has for fibro. You have a lot to look forward to in your life so don't let the idea of fibro frighten you. Fibro isn't terminal and you can live your life in spite of it. So, go for it! We are here to help you, too. Let us know when you find an EDUCATED doctor, okay? There are plenty of them out there.
