Hello everyone, I have not posted in a very long time, but had some new symptoms come up and wanted opinions if it could possibly be Fibro.
I usually post on the Lupus forum.  I do not have Lupus but have Inflammatory Arthritis.  Just in the last four weeks I have been experiencing extreme knee and leg burning, front and back, even into my groin area (where my panty line is).  Have never had anything like this before.
In my knees it feels mostly in the joints and the muscles on top and back of my legs, (thighs, calves, shins.  Also my lower back, and vertebra halfway up my spine.  I was also thinking maybe I had siatica (sp)?
It bothers me during the daytime but not as much as night.  I cannot sleep for the burning aching pain.  Daytime I alternate Mobic with Iburrophen, maybe 2-3 times a week on the Mobic, then with the Ibuprophen.  I try to wait until bedtime to take my Lortab just so I will be able to sleep.  I also take Ativan as a muscle relaxer.  I'm beginning to think this is not enough to get me through the night.
Thinking it was the arthritis I started on a round of predisone, (10 mg then 5) for two weeks.  So far it hasn't helped a lot.  So it made me thing it could be Fibro.  I have never been diagnosed with this but go to my Rheumotologist August 27.  I feel like I don't have enough criteria for the diagnosis.  I always have shoulder, neck, elbow, knee, hip, (well pretty much all over) pain but nothing like this.  I am pretty good about not taking too much medication unless I absoulutely need too.  I also take Plaquenil for the arthritis.  I hate drugs, but need some relief.
I try to keep moving and am also doing exercises for siatica that my husband does.  The stretching feels really good but then goes back to the burning sensation.
I don't know what to think about all this.
Would appreciate any input on this.  Sorry the post is so long.  Thank you  AnnieRae  :-)

Hi AnnieRae,

We have a thread called "fibro 101". It is the first thead on the forum. There is a list of symptoms there, I think it would help you to look over them if you haven't already. See what you think about having fibromyalgia. I really hope you don't, but if you do, this is the best forum for help. I hope you feel better soon. I have a lot of leg problems, but also have osteo arthritis.

Take care, and have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Karen

As much as we like to blame fibro, sometimes it really can be something else. I could have written your post. But I know that I have a herniated lumbar disc. I know I have arthritis in both knees and they need replaced. I know I have neuropathy in both feet.

One thing I've found helps the PN is BioFreeze. As much as we don't like to take meds, and spend the $$ on doc visits, sometimes it's necessary.
T2, OmniPod,Fibro,MVP,CAD,4 level cervical fusion, L5_S1 needs fusion, arthritis all over, need 2 knee replacements, Vit D3, and a lot of other meds!

Sorry for your pain. I have become quite familiar with Sciatica this year, had to have spine surgery because of it. Hard to say if that's what it is, because it can cause pain in slightly different places in different people, depending on where that huge nerve is being irritated. With me, it's down my butt, through the leg, and into the foot. (My leg has never been that bad, mostly it's the butt and foot.) It's much better after surgery - I don't know how I'd still be functioning otherwise...those horrible electric jolts -   shocked  - ugh!

I first took Prednisone too, which did nothing, and got 2 very expensive shots, which weren't much better. But I know they do help some people a lot.

Have you had an MRI? And do you have faith in your doctor?

I hope you get it figured out soon, and get some relief.

Thank you Debbie, Spookiesmom, and Karen, I trust my Rheumotologist completely.  He has been treating me for the last six years plus.

I'm not too sure about my PC, because when I mentioned the spine pain about five months ago not much was said or even really addressed.  So I will probably try and get through the next few weeks until I see my Rheumy and tell him what is going on.

I will definitely go through the Fibro 101 and check out all the info.  I'm hoping I will get an answer soon.

I have been using Magnesium Gel which works a little and also Blue Emu.  But I have heard of the Bio Freeze and will try that.

Thank you again

I will try and get back to this forum after I see my doctor the end of August, Take Care
