I went to my first rheumatologist appointment last year. He ended up taking 8 vials of blood and about 25 x-rays. He then sent me for two MRI's, too. But he did find answers for me and my symptoms were not caused by fibro. Fibro isn't a progressive illness nor a inflammatory illness and I was having both issues.
Be sure to take a list of your medications, over the counter things, and supplements that you take, along with the the mgs. and the dosage. I made a list of everything on my computer and then I just print it out whenever I head to the various doctors. It seems they are always updating things and this is easy. If a med changes for me, it's a snap to make the correction in my file.
The ANA can be up and then down. It isn't the most accurate test but if you add other tests to it, it helps with a diagnosis.
I do hope you like your rheumy and please let us know how your appointment goes. I'm really glad they could get you in sooner and it's wonderful your PC doctor will listen and help you. If nothing else, it can get some things off your mind and any worry you can ditch makes our pain less.
