Hi, Reanna, and welcome! You have found a great place here. We have wonderful members who love to help one another and, as a bonus, really do care about one another, too. I think you will like it here.
I decided not to take the Cymbalta, Lyrica, or Savella that my doctor offered. I didn't want to deal with the side effects. I tried Tramadol and Vicodin and neither of those helped me either. For some, some of these medications really help them and for others, they don't. What works for one with fibro doesn't necessarily work for another. It's trial and error until we find what helps us be in control of the pain and fatigue.
I settled on ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium supplements, vitamin D3 supplements, and a prescription muscle relaxer. These have helped me a lot. I also do daily gentle stretching exercises, daily gentle exercise like walking or swimming, and I pace myself when doing things. I also get a gentle massage once a month. All of this helps me live a full and enjoyable life in spite of this illness! You can too once you find what helps you be in control of your pain.
Also, I have a positive attitude. It has been proven that positive thinking helps with illnesses and pain and it sure does help me. I just count my blessings and look at all the good things around me. I rarely think about illness because then I would be focusing on it and be miserable. There is a good link in Fibro 101 about maintaining a positive attitude when you suffer from chronic pain and it's very good. This is one of my best coping suggestions for you.
I know you have been directed to Fibro 101. There is a lot of great info there and you will learn a lot. There are links to the supplements I mentioned and how they work in your body, a link with gentle stretching exercises that can be done sitting down, etc. You probably will find things you never even thought about being associated with fibro so do try to read it.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
