Hi, Mishinalaska, and welcome! We have another member from Alaska, too. I can't imagine having the muscle pain and all that cold weather, too. Yikes! But we are here to help you.
I'd certainly do some doctor shopping if I were you. If your doctor thinks this is all in your head, they are in the Dark Ages when it comes to this illness. You want a doctor that keeps abreast of all the new things. Look for a board certified rheumatologist. If they are diplomates, that's even better. My doctors are all board certified diplomates. You need a doctor that will listen to you, run the appropriate tests, and be there to help you. NO! This is NOT all in your head!
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. Good starting links are Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. All the links are good so do read it. Also, when you open Fibro 101, there is an interview with Dr. Daniel Clauw. He is one of the top doctors studying this illness. He explains quite well what they think is causing our problems.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
