I have had Fibro symptoms for a while now. My doctor has ruled out RA and Lupas. My one blood test did show inflammation, but just on the low end of "yeah there's a problem here". I have a history of depression and go to a chiropractor (who is also in the process of becoming an MD and says everything sounds like Fibro).

Anyway, something I meant to ask the chiropractor was would someone have pain in the fibro tender points for any other reason other than fibro? When pressing on the tender points I have pain almost all the time in almost all of them.

Thanks

Hi agawaj

Im no expert but I do believe Myofacial Pain Syndrome can cause pints to be tender when touched, I believe a lot of people can confuse this with fibro...Fibro can have lots of other symptoms though also, like fatigue, fog, nerve pain, sleep problems, headaches, IBS etc etc

Welcome and lots of people on here will be able to shed some light on this :o)

Thanks for your reply. I do have a lot of other symptoms-fatigue, aches and pains, nerve issues (buzzing, hot feel feeling) sleep problems, bowel and bladder issues at times, stomach and heart burn issues. I know it's one of those things that is hard to diagnose. I just feel like it's getting worse.

Thanks

Hi, and Welcome! You could be feeling trigger points. Trigger
points and tender points are not the same thing. Here is a good explanation.

http://www.fmnetnews.com/fibro-basics/diagnosis

I use trigger point therapy to help myself. There is a wonderful book with diagrams showing where the trigger points are that are causing pain in various areas. It's called The Trogger Point Therapy Workbook and you can find it on Amazon if you are interested.

Also, fibro is not an inflammatory illness. If you have inflammation then there probably is something else going on, too. I have several inflammatory illnesses along with fibro.

Be sure to read Fibro 101... The first thread on the forum. There are links with good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. Good starting links are called symptoms and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.

Agawaj

How old are you? Are you peri-menopausal or even menopausal by any chance?
My symptoms became much worse as I got to peri-menopause and then some got better and others got worse after menopause. Specifically for the bowel, have you tried a strict gluten free diet?
Lately I've been trying the low histamine diet and it has been nothing short of miraculous.
I had major vulvodynia, irritable and painful urination, burning, and it was due to histamine, mast cell related. Interstitial cystitis is now known to have a mast cell origin. Vulvodynia patients were found to have an overgrowth of nerve bundles in the vulvar/ vaginal area. No wonder so many women with Fibro have these issues. And IBS is considered to be mast cell mediated as well.
Try an antihistamine and adopt a low histamine diet (see link at my other post). If you are perimenopausal or postmenopausal, you might need some Estrace cream delievered to the tissue for bladder and vulva. Bowel can be fixed with diet.
