Wackers, I totally agree with Myself. If I stay in bed, I'm worse. You need to be up and about. Just walking and moving helps with pain.
I try to keep things as natural as possible but I still take plenty of medications for other illnesses...as well as over the counter medications and one prescription drug for fibro. This is a quality of life issue for me. I could stick to all natural things and not be able to live my life the way I want to live it.
For example, I have had bleeding ulcers caused by a combination of Crohn's and ibuprofen but ibuprofen is a "wonder drug" for me. I tried Vicodin and Tramadol and they didn't touch my pain but plain old over the counter ibuprofen helped me so much. I stayed off the ibuprofen for months so the ulcers could heal but I was in total misery. I almost couldn't walk due to fibro and another problem. This became a quality of life issue for me so I talked to my doctor and he agreed.
He prescribed Pepcid AC (prescription strength) and another medication that helps protect my stomach against ulcers. I also make sure to eat something when taking the ibuprofen and so far so good. I've been doing this for almost two years now and am doing fine. I get regular check-ups and they watch me for anemia, etc. I do pray that all this will work for me for the rest of my life but if it doesn't, I'll find something else that will give me quality of life. Laying in bed in pain is not quality of life for me and I won't do it.
Do you have good doctors helping you? Have they ruled out all the other possibilities according to your symptoms? You should not be getting worse unless, of course, you overdo things. You have to pace yourself with this illness. Have good nutrition, gentle daily exercise, pace yourself, etc. If working is too much, see if you can work part time or, if possible, stop working and spend time with your children. They will give you plenty of exercise.
I do hope you get over this flare soon.
