ok this is becoming an issue this feeling like I'm tipping over. it lasts just a couple seconds but just not sure if its fibro related or something else.

so was wondering if anyone else feels like they are tipping over sometimes and WOW does it make my anxiety sky rocket...UGH

Yup--I do that, too. I sometimes have to quickly grab onto something or I feel I could fall backwards. I wonder if it's from meds, mostly? Fibro is just weird, though, and could cause it too.

Anyway, I can relate. I try not to worry about anything like that, but yeah, it isn't easy sometimes.
Hang in there! We are here for you. :)

Yes, it's pretty normal. My off-balance feelings have improved with water aerobics-which strengthens the core muscles.

I can't stay balanced if I hold my eyes closed longer than ten seconds. I start to sway backwards.

I do balancing exercises to help with that. I have inner ear problems and that doesn't help matters any. Also. I find when fronts come through that it affects my balance....probably fluid backing up in the ears. Just a thought....

Don't let anxiety get the best of you. It is fear and you really don't have anything to be fearful about. Anxiety just makes things harder on you.
I hope you feel better soon.

I am not allowed to stand on anything. My husband gets very upset because he knows how easily I fall. I don't feel like I am going to fall unless I am on a chair or etc.

Yep.. happens to me quite often. I usually just wait for it to pass. Sometimes it takes a few minutes. Sometimes it takes a few hours. Sometimes it takes a few days. Sometimes a few weeks. But... eventually it goes away.

The last few rounds of balance/vertigo issues seemed to be triggered by milk ingestion. Not sure why, but I've avoided milk since then and felt better. I know this isn't the case for all FMers, but it is for me for whatever reason.

I get that often, and usually have to grab on things. My insurance just authorized railings in the bathroom for me (tub and toilet) and frankly I'm looking forward to that. The most trouble I have is trying to get out of the tub. My man now demands to be present when I get out. I tend to slip and fall when I don't have him to help me out. I'm thinking about checking into one of those um wheelchair tub things. I have to figure out what it is called first, but I've seen the commercials for them.

Yes, I get this once in awhile, and it's very scary! It just hits me out of the blue, lasts a few seconds, then it's gone.

I have balance issues and would trip and fall.  I started dragging my feet so I wouldn't fall.  when I went to my neuro 1st visit she noticed the way I walked.  Had PT which did & still does help my core muscles.  I fell @ work in front of my boss & others my pride was hurt more than anything.  @ this time I don't drive  shakehead  last time was Nov 4th.

thanks all, I just seem to be getting this sensation more and more lately! My pain level has gone down since seeing an acupuncturist and a lot of HOT Epsom salt baths.

My pain is mostly in my neck, shoulders, shoulder blades and base of skull, so I am wondering if I'm not pinching off blood flow to my brain.
Had x-ray of neck and all it showed was, and I quote, "small amount of arthritis on left side"

Guess maybe I should see an ENT...do not want to have to stop driving because of this

I have been looking @ nerves in base of skull there is the lessor occipital is where the pain  originates.  travels my down the neck to ear face jaw down shoulder into chest muscle.  I get a sinus inflammation puts more pressure on that nerve the pain is hard to get under control I use clonazepam if the pain meds & sinus meds don't help. I lay on couch till I can tolerate it.  not being able to turn my neck to the left look over my shoulder.  I didn't have a very good day today all my energy gone.  I hope you get relief that works!

I have balance issues also, I always fail what is called the Romberg Test. If I stand up straight, feet together, arms straight down at my sides and close my eyes I tip right over. I've had brain MRI's and they can't see anything going on in there.

Vertigo will happen if I have an inner ear thing...this will happen on occassion when I first sit up in bed after awakening.

I agree an ENT is the person to see. Good luck to you!

Hugs, Robin
