I am going to post this on anxiety forum also because I just have no clue (and neither do the Drs.) know what causes this.

It happens mostly when I am 1st waking up, My arms, back and hands all fall like I have a severe sunburn. It lasts for at least 1/2 hr or more. ususally goes away once I get up and start MOVING. could this be Fibro related?

Gee, Lainey...I have no idea.

But it sounds awful! Did you get any help on the anxiety forum?

Lainey, this is exactly what happens to me. Usually when I first wake up and off and on during the day. Once I take gabapentin, it goes away for a while, so it must be related to the nerves in the body. I have often told my brother that it feels like my veins are on fire.

Do you get any light redness at all with it? At one time I would get erythema...the capilaries would become inflammed and I would feel like I had severe sunburn in different areas of my body. Sometimes my entire back would be involved or maybe just the size of a baseball on my thighor stomach. It would last up to an hour or so and would dissapear. I haven't been bothered with it for a few years now.

Sometimes during bad flares I feel like there is hot oil and shards of glass coursing through my veins.

Make sure to mention it to your doc. Good luck to both of you :)

i had this at beginning of my illness. Ive not had it though since being on amitriptyline, which tells me mine could be nerve related, as this is meant to help with neuropathic pains...i do know this can be a symptom of anxiety also, which I also get

laineyk: yes, it does kind of feel like a sunburn without the redness. I feel it mainly in the upper half of my body. My skin gets very sensitive to touch and my doctor said all of this is related to fibro.

This is how a lot of my flares start -- the constant sunburned feeling. It gets so bad that clothing or blankets touching my skin puts me in agonizing pain.
My Diagnoses:
Migraines (since appx 1997)
Depression/Anxiety - 2004
Bi-polar disorder - 2006 (recently changed to "mood disorder otherwise not specified" by new psychiatric nurse practitioner?)
Fibromyalgia - 2012

Take:
Wellbutrin SR
Klonopin
Geodon
Flexeril (stopped 4/23)
Tramadol (as needed)(more regularly now that I am off Flexeril)
Amitryptiline (to aid in sleep)
