I had something similar happen last June. I had to get a crown replaced, and it was a real struggle for the dentist to file down things correctly. It seemed like a root canal, and like I had my mouth
open for hours! Things just didn't go well, for some reason.
It was extremely sore for weeks afterwards. In fact, I can still feel a sensitive area there, occasionally. I'm guessing the nerves in my mouth got really irritated.
One thing that helped was buying a 'sensitive' toothpaste. There are several brands of these. And, of course, you could always have your dentist take another look.
I hope you're better soon!! It's a wicked, touchy area to deal with.
