Welcome lagill to the forum! I know your pain and fatigue are real. The constant pain and fatigue can wear a body down. I know for me I got on disability after I took every means to work. I cut my hours down to part time and I still couldn't function. I am not sure if you have tried to cut your hrs. down? Having your dr's on your side is almost a must. I think majority of people use a lawyer today. I didn't use one, but if I had to do it over I would of. You have to be prepared for a long haul of several years unless you have these certain life threatening issues such as certain cancers and etc. Most lawyers want you to try on your own before coming to them. It's very stressful to go through, but worth it if your unable to work.
I was extremely sick and in severe depression. I couldn't keep going. The more I tried to work the more my body would fall apart. I couldn't stay out of the hospital. All my money was going to my medical bills. So you might be at that point too. You needs lots of records to back you up. I was actually surprised with all my huge medical diagnoses I think my chronic depression is what got of my disability. My psy. dr. wanted me out of work. I guess she could tell I wasn't good to work at that point.
If you do decide I would go down in person to talk with someone and not by phone. They will have you get the ball rolling by getting on the computer and filling out lots of info. You can call some lawyers in your state and see if they take first time applied.
I would try cutting your hrs. first. Sometimes that makes a world of difference. Look at things in our lifestyle that might could make your fibro better. Things such as less stress, good sleeping habits, eating well, Exercise, work less hrs, medication and don't over extend yourself. Some people think disability pays well, but they are so wrong. So if you can work part time it's probably better pay then disability.
I hope I could help you some. This is a great place for support. You can learn some great ways to manage your fibro better too. I hope we see you around again. Let us know how your appointment goes.
