Thanks, Sherrine!! I have been doing fairly well--but it is the first five days. I made good decisions today when out running errands--generally a weak moment for me because I get tired and want a food reward. Instead, I bought a Coke Zero.

Countingstars...can I talk to you about what you have learned about inflammation? How did you figure out which foods caused inflammation? If you wouldn't mind, could you email me? akeeperathome@aol.com

Thank you!

Myself 09 and Tigertails,
I will respond to you both here since Sherrine closed down the other post. Hope you find it.

I do not have IBD or arthritis. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and that is why I post here in the fibro forum. While fibro hasn't been linked to inflammation officially, my MD finds that if you have inflammation from food sensitivities it tends to increase weight and pain among other things. This is why I said that after I found and eliminated food sensitivities and allergies not only did I lose weight, but the pain related to fibromyalgia also drastically decreased. I notice right away and for about a week later any time I eat something I am sensitive to, especially gluten foods. I had gluten several days ago and I am paying for it currently in pain.

Tiger --

My MD addressed inflammation solely by the elimination diet and adding fish oil supplements. The fish oil was at a dose of 2-3g a day either all together or split up. She also said that the supplements were unnecessary if I were to consume fatty fish like salmon 2 times a week.

My dr. Also recommended fish oils,

I eat fish maybe once a week, but know i need the oil.

I have not tried an elimination diet, but am sure it cannot hurt.

Tracie--I am not sure what you mean by clean food, other than unprocessed. I don't eat a lot of processed food. I never really have, because I like to control things like fat and sodium. You can make your own spice rubs for meat, cook lots of veggies to have ready to go for quick meals. One cookbook I recommend is Well-Fed, which is a paleo book The author lays out a food prep plan so that there are always a variety of quick meals ready to be put together.

Aha, I found it. To bad threads like this cant stay on the top. 4 pages worth.

I'm doing a Whole 30 (more restricted Paleo cave man diet), for 30 days. I know my gut does not like glutan or and milk products, I'll see what healthy eating (cave man eating) does for aches and pains in 30 days.

I had lyme, body aches are the norm with this even after treatment is done, even for a long time. Of couse several Dr just threw out the fibro label at me with no proof just to get me to leave. Although so many Drs use fibro as a label, I understand the causes can be many and even other problems not found yet in some, that said, food has reactions in many people, pain or whatever might show up. So I'm reading others experiences.

I agree food sensitivities can cause more pain in some people. Food doesn't affect me pain-wise but one thing...MSG...causes heart palpitations in me. Food issues don't cause fibro. We have many members who have fibro but no food sensitivities...me included.
But certain foods can increase pain if you are sensitive to it. I've heard of quite a few members having the gluten difficulty so you are not alone there. It's great they have a section in the grocery stores devoted to gluten free foods. They didn't have that a few years ago.

I hope your Paleo diet helps with your discomfort. It's worth a shot!
