I have been trying to get off Lyrica for months. I was at 600mg per day for about 3 years.
Although it worked really well for me, the more time I was on it, the more aggressive I felt I was becoming. I also noticed I was gaining weight. (about 35 pounds).
I had to go to my pharmacist for a taper plan because my doctor had no idea there were any withdrawal sysmtoms associated with it. If fact, she seemed skeptical of what I was reporting.
Profuse sweating and chills at same time, nausea which turned in to vomiting. Also, an anxiety that comes from nowhere. Not to mention the nerve pain that came back while I was tapering.
I am currently down to 25mg per day. I am still getting sweats at night.
My next step is to go to 25mg every other day.
Does anyone know how long this is going to go on?
Why is there so much misunderstanding of this drug?
Yesterday I read the individual who made the drug had his license pulled. Is that true?

Hi.Even I am on lyrica 150 mg a day.My rheumato has given it to me with Xanax at bedtime as a treatment for fibro.I take it since april2016.The day I started taking them I started sleeping.Sleep was very disturbed before due to cushings.I didn't have any weight gain maybe bcoc of steroid taper.I am also in the process of steroid taper cos my endo is trying to get my pituatry to function. But I am concerned about these medicines and their effects.I had tried to taper them but ended up in so much misery ,more anxiety, dizziness etc.I take them at evening time.Just after 2 lyricas I start feeling sleepy. But I also take a Xanax bcos the doc has told me to.I want to try to do without them or atleast reduce them but am too scared because of previous failure. Also I don't know if I would to able to sleep on my own. Also how long can I take them. They are harsh on our systems whatever they are made up off.We cant go on life long.I had constipation before and some time before I was constipated and landed in an anal fissure ,extremely painful. So I need some help and right guidance from someone but don't seem to get that help.My gastro has asked me to reduce painkillers.I have recently started taking turmeric and other natural healers but don't know how far it is going to help.My endo had asked me to see a rheumato for fibro that's hoe I started taking these drugs.I am also in the middle of steroid taper.so I don't know what to do.There is no change in the pain though since I started but I don't know what it would be to go off them.

My grandmother has Fibromyalgia really bad, and she wanted off the meds. She found DoTerra essential oils and now makes herself these mixes that make her feel better. She slowly cut out the meds her dr. gave her and now uses these roller balls bottles to feel better.

So sorry Supersally,
I am hoping the fx wont last too much longer. This drug is serious and can cause seizures in some, so take your time. I am tapering off Lyrica bc my insurance does not cover it anymore. Well, I would have to pay $500 for 90 day supply, and I'm definitely not doing that.

I called my doctor and I am now going on 300 milligrams of Gabapentin to replace Lyrica. My Dr is under the impression that you can come off of Lyrica and start the Gabapentin, but I have read otherwise online so I am not doing that. I have had little side fx. Nervousness, insomnia. I have been on Lyrica for 2 yrs at 300mgxday. I am now taking about 20 natural supplements for my pituitary, thyroid, and inflammation. Rx from a holistic doctor. I also have a detailed diet plan which is helping immensely. I was almost 200lbs. I have lost 20lbs and 5 dress sizes. I was almost drug free, but I am busy mom so my tapering will take a little longer. My diet is good. I recommend the paleo diet it is basically mine with inflammation diet as well. Exercise is the next thing to tackle for me. I am not pain free. I have arthritis neck, feet and fibro arms, sunburn pain. I have not had a flare since I started my plan. Lyrica affects everyone differently. I loved it, but my forgetfulness I will not miss! confused If you are able to take Gabapentin while you taper might be good. Nerve drugs are tricky. Be safe and listen to your body. Hope you recover soon. Please keep us updated
