Ah, muddled mind and fuzzy thoughts.

It wasn't quite sleepless - I lay there from 1:30-4:00 am, try-y-ying to get my head and neck comfortable on the pillow....the same pillow that has been so wondrous for 20 years I've taken it with me everywhere I've gone. But lately, I've had trouble with it. My neck feels uncomfortable pressure...so I move half a millimeter, and then my ear hurts...then my temple...and so it goes, hour after bloody hour.

Last night this went on and on and on. I finally caved and turned onto my back, and slept from 4:00-8:00, until my leg started yelling at me. Got up to pee, came back and tried again until 11:00 (I'm stubborn), to no avail.

I'm wondering if it could be a barometer thing, since it's now very windy and 61 degrees!? Anyone have a similar experience? How many of us are affected by the barometer, anyway? I never can decide on this.

I even took steps yesterday to make sure my nervous system wasn't overcharged when I hit the hay...I didn't go for my usual walking/shopping outing, but lay down early in the afternoon like a good girl because my kids were over and I didn't want to be dead on my feet in the evening.

Hi Debbie: Those sleepless and almost sleepless nights can be miserable! Hope you will get a chance to (sort of) "catch up" soon. I get those nights occasionally. For some reason, I generally don't have too rough of a day, the day after, and things generally even out. But, on the other hand, an occasional bad night can result in a very muzzy-headed next morning. Grrr.

I don't know where you live, but here in the Northern Midwest, we've had lots of cool but damp days the last few weeks. Haven't had a bad flare in a long while until a few weeks back.....and it was a "doozy." Achy from head to toe, and my sinuses felt like they were flaring---all over my body. But, I did sleep like a rock!

It surely could be the barometric pressure or something like that causing your sleepless issues. It sure messes up my body, anyway! I felt like I just got over an enormous surge of adrenaline and it left me like a dishrag for a few days. Oh, the weird symptoms of fibro! I don't think it was a flu or cold, as I felt chilled, but never had a fever.

Usually, I just lie down in the afternoon about 10-15 minutes, do a little reading and a short prayer time. It keeps me going the rest of the day. But with this last bout, I'd lie down and be 'out cold' for 45 minutes! The weather is now smoothing itself out, so I'm hoping this roller coaster ride is over soon and completely gone. At least, I'm feeling much better.

Good thinking--not to overcharge when or before you go to bed. I find I can't go near a computer screen anywhere near bedtime, or even read anything that gets me thinking too much. And I totally avoid the "news" (if you can even call it that, these days!).

I sure hope this is a much better week for you, and you get some good, productive sleep. Keep us posted and take care. yeah

We can all get those bad nights, hope tonight is much better!

I had just asked my sister if she related her bad sleep nights to barometric pressure..it impacts me in so many ways..

We have had a lot of wind and a system blowing through, but also temps have gone from 50's to 30's

I have talked about it in many of my posts...feel like a broken record..
But if barometric is changing rapidly..my breathing becomes more shallow and lower oxygen impacts everything, makes me feel much more muddled..

I have a microcurrent unit...mens..instead of tens..that is one thing that seems to even the breathing pattern during those times. I am not sure why it even has that effect..i bought it on recommendation of an alternative dr for pain.he had explained that tens was often too strong for fibro patients, and the milder form worked better for us. It lowers pain but also steadies my breathing pattern, which is only an issue with barometric changes.
