Good morning. I am new here but not new to fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed over twenty years ago. I also have chronic pain from accidents in the past.
To get to my question over the last 2 months my head has gotten quite itchy. Also the lymph nodes at the back of my head get quite swollen and itchy/ sore as well. I've tried different shampos( I seldom use any hair care products due to allergies) When nothing worked I visited my GP who examined my scalp and couldn't find any dandruff or ... gross.. bugs. He suggested a mild shampoo and a benedryl.
If I take a Benadryl it helps.
My hair is to the middle of my back and I'm going grey( I'm sixty) I've never had anything happen like this before. It interrupts my sleep I'm scratching and itching !!
Any one have this problem? If so have you found solution?
Thank you!!

We can often have unexplained itching,

I get it behind my ears, and am trying changing shampoos now

Also fibro, with other chronic pain..

I think our nerves are impacted by this issue, which could also affect the itching symptom..

My doc would just say try hydrocortizone cream, it did nothing for we have to find those answers for ourselves at times..

Hi, Imhurting, and welcome! As we age, our skin gets drier. This might not have anything to do with fibro. You could check with your doctor or see a dermatologist and they could tell you better what is going on. You could have dermatitis, psoriasis, etc. There are medicated shampoos and the doctor would know what is best for you. Meanwhile, try not to scratch. I know that's easier said than done but I find if I have an itch and start scratching, it itches more! Many times I can ignore it and it will settle down.

I'm so glad you joined us! There is a lot of good info in Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. I do hope you take the time to read it. You just might find things to help you with your pain.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
