I've had intermittent sensory peripheral neuropathy for about 20 years. But about a month ago, my legs went crazy and haven't stopped. They buzz/tingle so hard that it feels like they are shaking (but not visibly). I'm going to make an appointment with a neuro doc, but I don't have much faith in many docs anymore.
No lower back pain. I had gone down a bit on my various vitamins (Calcium/D3/B,mag., etc) and had to go without them altogether for 2 weeks for a recent surgery. But I'm back on them again.
Dang......there's always something.
I know a lot of people with FMS have this tingling.
I should probably get an lower spine MRI, heavy metals test, etc. Any other suggestions about what tests I might request and what vitamins/supplements you have found to help?
This is getting really old.
Do any of you just live with this intense tingling constantly?
Back when all this started, I remember taking Cipro for 10 days.....but I didn't make the connection, since I had taken a lot of antibiotics for various problems. Then I took it for a week again about 2 years ago. Then I start hearing that it can cause neuropathies. Why isn't that made more public?
Thanks for any insights/suggestions for this tingling/buzzing.

Hi CathyA, I get the tingling in my legs, but it comes and goes. I might not have it for a few weeks then it will come on for a few days then it goes away again. I get the buzzing/shaking feeling more often. I have yelled at my husband many times to stop shaking the bed, only to realize he wasn't the one doing it! However, it also comes and goes. I can imagine it would drive me crazy if it was constant and didn't give me a little break sometimes!
I also understand the feeling of not having much faith in Doctors! It can be very frustrating!
I hope you get some answers when you go to the Doctor.

Thanks Misty*Love. Yeah.....I guess they call that other sensation "internal shaking". I have that too. Sometimes I'm sure it would look like it was shaking from the outside too, but it doesn't.
Are we having fun yet?!

No shaking, but this week, bad muscle spasms of the feet and legs

Not sure this is from the fibro even..i have had strange periods of it before..way over did last week, so not sure if that has anything to do with it

Thanks Ljm.......usually if I get leg spasms, it helps to take calcium
The hard part is, when you get symptoms like this, you feel like you need to go to docs in different specialies to rule out anything "worse" than FMS. It can be such a waste of time, anxiety and money, when usually nothing else turns up.
What really bugs me is when docs NEVER say anything is due to low vitamins.....so I'm being sure to take B12, B complex and D3......just in case that helps.
Seems like if it was a pinched nerve in my lower back, my back would hurt......but it doesn't. (One of the few things that doesn't hurt!......knock on wood!!)

Cathy, I do not have Fibro, however I do have a long history of leg & foot cramps. After making sure I was not low on anything including potassium, my dr put me on magnesium just OTC. Took care of the problem. My husband gets the cramping bad because he has to take Lasix twice a day. Magnesium has helped him too. May be something to consider.

Take care.
