Hi, Mella, and welcome. I would be looking for a different GP if mine ignored all of this discomfort. Having pain in all four quadrants of the body for several months is the main criteria of Fibromyalgia. Also we have cognitive memory problems and you mention some of this happening with you too. Your doctor might be one of the few who do not believe fibromyalgia s a true illness.
If you can, try to see a board certified Rheumatologist who treats fibromyalgia patients. There are still some in the Dark Ages when it comes to this illness so do ask before you make an appointment. They will run tests to rule out other illnesses that have many of the same symptoms...things like lupus and Lyme disease. Then a correct diagnosis can be given.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links about fibro and you will learn a lot there. A good starting link would be A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. You just might see yourself there.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
