I have been to gp several times for pain all over my body.drs did blood tests that came back all clear.i have had trouble sleeping for months, light disturbed sleep at night and waking up tired every day.i wake up in pain every morning and its constant all day. Drs put me on some amitryptiline for a few weeks to see if that helped. But pain didnt improve at all. It is interfereing with my daily life. I returned to drs todsy and went over all the symptoms again. They have put on my file ? Fibromyalgia and prescibed me duloxetine 20mg twice a day.
Am after advice please.

Hi,

Ok , it does sound like fibromyalgia..

So often all our tests show nothing.

We can get some help from our drs, but we also have to learn how to self help...

Its trial and error between patients, what helps..

My sister and i have fibro, but almost like different kinds..both genetic forms..

From our mom for sure but possibly even her mom..

Of course not all fibromyalgia is genetic..there seems to be about 7 origins.

Most of us like heat

Stretching gently is really important

Personally, i love topical pain relieving products

Just know that you can get help..and its considered not progressive
Although at times my body forgets that..

Hi, Sar85, and welcome! Please be sure to ask your doctor if they have ruled out Lyme disease and lupus. These have many of the same symptoms as fibro and we have some members who have fibro and one of these illnesses. Usually when these have been ruled out, a diagnosis of fibro is given.

I use ibuprofen with food, tylenol, magnesium malate, vitamin D3, and a muscle relaxer called Robaxin that has made a significant difference in my pain. I take less than half of what was prescribed so I don't get the usual side effects that you can get with muscle relaxers. I also walk daily as a gentle form of exercise and I pace myself when doing things. All of this has helped me live a full and enjoyable life in spite of this illness.

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. You Jared st might see yourself there!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
