I have been experiencing all the symptoms of fibro, i went to see my gp who has put me on duloxetine tablets twice a day. I have done the widespread pain indwx and symptoms severity score for fibro which both highlight that is what i am suffering from.
My gp has now referred me to a rheumatologist clinic.please can you help me, what will happen there and what do they do.

They will most likely take more blood work and possibly take x-rays also. They are checking to rule out other illnesses that have many of the same symptoms as fibro...things like Lyme disease and lupus. This is good because you don't want a misdiagnosis. There are different treatments for these other things. The rheumy has to do this since there is no good test for fibro.

If you have a good rheumy, they should be able to diagnose you correctly and help with your symptoms. Make sure they are board certified and also believe in Fibro. There are still some doctors out there in the Dark Ages when it come to this illness.

Do let us know how you appointment goes because we do care about you.
