Hello, does anyone has pain in the finger tips; some days are worst than others and even touching my phone or iPad with like 3 fingers hurts a lot, I have to keep changing finger. Please any advice would be helpful, thanks

I get some tingling and numbness in my fingertips occasionally but no pain. My problem is caused from back problems. Peripheral neuropathy can cause pain in the fingertips. Are you diabetic? Many with diabetes can develop this. Also lupus can be a cause. Lupus has many of the same symptoms as fibro and Lyme disease. I mentioned the Lyme disease because I see you have posted in that forum also.

Here is a good link from the Mayo Clinic about this.

Yes, but mine is due to constant splitting of my fingertips and also my nails due to dry air (I guess.) It's pretty much only in the Winter.

But it hurts A LOT!

I use a ton of lotion and antibacterial ointment, and go around with lots of bandaids, and I'm always trying to get only some fingers wet when I wash my hands - the ones without bandaids. Sometimes that's a minority of my fingers.

Anyway, I'm sorry, I know that's probably not really what you're talking about, mibella.

What kind of pain is it - stinging, burning, stiffness?

Thanks fo your replies; I don’t have diabetes, was diagnosed with Lyme many years ago and got better until 3 yrs ago, Drs don’t even agree on what I have. The pain is a stingingly pain.

I am curious if you have any osteoarthritis in your fingers? I do, and recently a new end joint has become sore and swollen. But for some reason, the top side of the tip of that finger has stinging pain.

I run into the same thing myself. I am in the IT field and have had terrible pain in my forearms, hands and fingers. The area that has pain can vary or be all areas. Sometimes it is muscle cramps and sometimes just pain. Like you I have to switch the fingers I use ever so often.

I have not found any solution. The Dr. says I have CFS and FM and the solution is Cymbalta and Gabapentin.

I also use the Armaid device to massage my arms / hands which seems to help.

I wish there was a way to find out what the problem is and resolve it.

I had a lot more problems with my hands and wrists when I was using my desk top computer. I now use an iPad and don’t have much of a problem at all. I know I have carpal tunnel so I think that was causing the discomfort. Maybe positioning your hands or wrists differently could help.

CathyA thanks for the chuckle.

Acheybody, you might try one of the creams/lotions that are meant for diabetics. Even though you don't have diabetes it sounds like your fingers are acting the same as if you did.
