Hi Cathy: This may not help a lot, but I'll give it a try.
I tried duloxetine (Cymbalta) a couple of years ago but decided to stick with the gabapentin (Neurontin) instead. Sorry I don't recall the specifics of why, exactly, but I just checked my notes and I had written "too many side effects."
I sure wish I had been more specific in my notes! Since I'm prone to muscle spasms and cramping, I'm wondering if that may have been the issue.
Occasionally, I still get weird things happening as you do, where the hand or leg (or sometimes a foot) "jumps." Sometimes a little heat applied with a heating pad or 'bed buddy' helps me with that. Or I sometimes use a muscle relaxing cream as used for restless legs. Massage helps me, too, as does a warm bath. If a foot is acting up, oddly enough changing shoes can sometimes help.
I'm sensitive to meds, too, and would be rather wary of increasing a dosage.
Maybe someone else on the forum can help with more specific info--I hope so! Wish you the best!
