My osteoarthritis and fibro seem to have really flared up, worse than ever after having gotten both of my Pfizer Covid vaccines. Maybe it's just coincidental, but I wonder about this, after hearing that women are getting some false positives on their mammograms after being vaccinated. I know back when people were getting the Lyme vaccine, some developed horrible arthritis. I sure hope this is just a flare and not an unfortunate side-effect for some of us.

And, while I'm here, I wanted to mention something that my husband brought up. He's a medical person, and he wondered about all the troubles I've had in the past 25 years, after having a couple really bad viruses. He said it sounded almost like the "long haulers" who continue to have problems after they have the Covid virus.
It certainly gives me pause.

I just had my first vaccination almost two weeks ago and haven’t had a problem at all. The first shot made my arm sore where the shot was given but I only noticed the soreness when I tried to reach across my body with that arm. It was no big deal. I also was tired for two days but not exhausted. I get my second vaccine on March 29th. I’m so thankful to have gotten appointments for these. This is a horrible virus that attacks pretty quickly. I am getting the Moderna vaccine.

My son works for a school system so he had his vaccines. He had the Pfizer vaccine. He got the sore arm and tiredness too and the second shot he only was tired for two days.

I get bad bronchitis that is viral and it sometimes will go into pneumonia but I had no problems with my first shot.

Cathy, try not to worry so much. That can cause a lot of problems in and of itself. I’ve told you before that in the past I worried a lot about just about everything and I also took on symptoms of illnesses just by looking for the symptoms! It was weird. Then I threw out my medical book and, at the time, I didn’t know how to go to Dr. Google. All of a sudden I felt much better.

Millions have taken these vaccines and are doing fine. The side effects generally last two days...if you get them. I’m grateful they came up with these vaccines. They will save millions of lives.

Thanks Sherrine!

With my first vaccine, I only had a sore arm for a day. But with the second one, I had absolutely NO reaction. It was weird. I was all set to feel bad, but didn't! I hope it wasn't just saline. haha

I am grateful for these vaccines too! When they first came out I was a little concerned, but then after seeing how awful the virus can be, especially for older people, I thought better about them. It's very disconcerting, but I live in Indiana and next week starts "March Madness" with like 69 basketball games (college). Restaurants and bars will be opened. I have fears that we're just getting on top of this virus, and now we may have a regression.

I saw a doctor recently for my worsening "Pulsatile Tinnitus". It's really driving me crazy. I had a brain MRI with and without contrast and nothing horrible showed up. So next week I see an audiologist about a hearing aid. I guess I have some hearing loss of high frequencies in one ear. the weirdest things can happen with that. I hear all sorts of weird sounds now. I guess our brains try to compensate and translate other sounds.......rightly or wrongly. I wouldn't mind wearing a hearing aid if I can lessen this pulsatile tinnitus. As Rosanne Rosannadanna used to say "There's always somethin'!"

I live in Florida and our restaurants and the state have been open for months. I still choose not to go in a restaurant yet but I would eat outside. Today is 82 degrees and sunny. Just had to add that. 😂

But we are somewhat concerned about spring break and all the college students that aren’t thinking coming down, getting drunk, and spreading the virus. I won’t be heading to the beach...that’s for sure.

People just have to use some common sense, cover both their nose and their mouths also with their masks. This virus is a respiratory virus and you breathe through both your nose and your mouth. So you not only could be spreading the virus but you can pick it up and get sick also. I have mentioned a couple of times to people that they could get sick by not covering their nose with the mask. Their responses were that they knew that!!! Now...that is truly dumb!

But we will beat this virus.

I am profoundly deaf in the high ranges of sound and also have lost some low range. I lost it due to autoimmune inner ear disease. Ninety-six percent of speech is made up of high sounds so I have to lip read to understand speech. These masks are horrible for me. I’ve been wearing hearing aids for 29 years. You will get used to it. As we age we start losing our high sounds first...a little at a time if we are predisposed to hearing loss. I, unfortunately, lost mine overnight! What a shock! But I’d rather lose my hearing than my eyesight so I’m very thankful. My positive attitude has helped me immensely throughout life.

Thanks Sherrine. Yes, you do seem to have a positive attitude! That's always been a challenge for me. A lot has to do with my childhood. sad
Anyhow........I know what you mean about people wearing their mask under their noses. I just want to say to them "You DO realize that your nose is connected to your mouth and lungs, right???" Back when the virus was well underway, I was in the self check-out at Walmart. There was a guy there who didn't even have his masked pulled up at all. I asked him if he'd please pull it up. He got very angry and was mumbling things I couldn't hear, except that he didn't have to pull his mask up for anybody. Strangest thing though, before he left he came over to me and apologized and said "I'm really sorry. That's just not who I am. I'm glad you reminded me." So.........that ended up being a nice ending. But I have learned to be careful, since I don't want to be in a screaming match. Fortunately, by now, most people are wearing them properly. I just avoid the ones that apparently don't know their nose is attached to their mouth and lungs. haha
Back on topic..........I see the audiologist tomorrow, so hopefully a hearing aid will take care of this horribly loud pulsatile tinnitus.

So e people have been shot for asking someone to wear their mask properly. Only twice did I ask if they were aware that if they don’t cover both their nose and mouth it’s like they aren’t wearing a mask at all. And the response was that they knew. If I see a person that I have to pass not wearing their mask properly, I take a deep breath and pass them and get about ten feet from the. Before I exhale and breathe again. 😁. One man who was filling the meat case in a store had his mask over his beard. His mouth and nose were t covered at all. No way would I buy meat there.

I think you will like the hearing aid and will be surprised at what you have been missing! I sure was! I could hear birds sing. But then two weeks later my hearing totally fell<off the charts and I haven’t heard birds sing since then. I do miss that. I don’t hear smoke alarms either and I was on a group trip and was wondering why everyone was so tired at breakfast. Well, the smoke alarms went off, everyone was evacuated...except me...and the fire trucks surrounded the hotel. I slept through the whole thing. So when traveling I will not stay by myself again.

Even in my home I had a problem. I have seven smoke alarms and they are all connected so when one goes off the others do too. My daughter came home and was holding her ears and said can’t you hear that? I said hear what? All my alarms were going off and it’s supposedly is quite piercing but I did t hear anything. I was busy watching TV with closed captions. So I went out and bought smoke alarms with lights on them. Light wakes me up and my house should, light up like a Christmas tree if the all go off. 😂

I did want to let you know I still have tinnitus. I don’t notice it unless I stop and think about it. So don’t focus on it. Just get busy and enjoy your life with the added blessing of better hearing!

Yuk!......about the man in the meat department. I wouldn't buy there either! I'm pretty good about talking to the managers about those things. I'm surprised I haven't been banned from the store. haha

Sorry about your hearing problems. I was going to suggest alarms with lights, but you have them now. Too bad you can't have a bed or furniture that vibrates when the smoke alarms go off! smile

I saw the audiologist today. I chose one of the less expensive ones that I can control with my iPhone...and that one is $3,000+. I couldn't believe it. And insurance doesn't cover it. Makes me think maybe I should have just tolerated the tinnitus. But I get a month to figure out if it helps, and can still return it (minus $150.00), so that's what I'll do. I may be missing more than I think I do. I'll just have to see.
I wish you could hear the birds sing! Maybe you could get a hearing aid with birds singing. They make so many choices for "background noise". Thanks again for your replies Sherrine!
