I had a laparoscopy last tuesday to remove a big cyst (1 lter) and my ovaries, it was benign.
The anesthesia hit me real bad, I stayed overnight at the hospital, I was feeling better on friday, but since then have been feeling awful, no stamina, foggy.
I know I have a lot of viruses added to lyme dis, do u think is my body trying to fight any of my viruses that were triggered? No fever so I hope is not Covid, have not being vaccinated yet, because the priority was the surgery.
Thanks for your response,

Hi mibella: I'm so glad your laparoscopy is over and the cyst was benign--great news!

Personally, I've only had anesthesia once (for a ruptured appendix surgery), but it didn't hit me particularly hard. Well, that I can remember! I do know I was given pretty strong doses of medication after the surgery. But I don't recall anything unusual, except I did have some mild, lingering, occasional feelings of sort of a sleepiness, which lasted about maybe 5 months. I think any kind of trauma, medical procedures, etc. could hit us kind of hard, especially with fibro.

Maybe check with your doctor. If you don't have a fever, I wouldn't think your body is trying to fight off anything, but then again, I'm no doctor!

This kind of reminds me of a few years ago when I had Novocain for a dental procedure. When I was done, I stood up and it was like I could feel my body's electrical impulses all the way down my legs! It was like things were reconnecting or something. I'm guessing it was the fibromyalgia and/or neuro issues I have. Strange stuff!

Take care and hope things are better soon. Medical procedures can do weird things to our bodies, and just to reassure, maybe phone your doctor.

Hi, Mibella! I hope this reply is finding you feeling stronger and less foggy. If you do have fibro these feelings are totally understandable. You know, it took a while to have that cyst get that size. It was around 3.9 inches in diameter and that has been putting a strain on your body even before the surgery! You rarely can have surgery and then feel totally healthy again. Healing takes time and you need to allow yourself to rest and not stress out over something that probably is totally normal.

I had a cyst removed also. Mine was 10 inches in diameter and weighed 4 pounds and I was 5 months pregnant at the time! This was back 46 years ago! They didn’t have all the diagnostic equipment they have these days so the pain was getting intense and they did exploratory surgery. That’s when they discovered the cyst and my right ovary and Fallopian tube were all twisted around the cyst. As the cyst moved sideways it would cut off the blood supply and it was ready to rupture, which would have killed me and the baby! So the cyst and ovary and Fallopian tube were removed and I was in the hospital for a week and couldn’t go back to work for five weeks. I couldn’t drive for five weeks either because of the anesthesia.

It’s great you could have laparoscopic surgery. You don’t need as much time to recuperate so you should start feeling better with each new day. I suggest you focus on the things you can do and not dwell on things that are bothering you right now. Of course if this continues for another week or so, it wouldn’t hurt to touch base with your doctor.
