This is a point of contention with my husband. I tend to get snappy when he accidentally startles me. I try to explain that it is neither my fault nor his. Am I the only one?!

Hi, Ada, and welcome! I startle easily…to the point I practically jump out of my skin. BUT, I’m hearing impaired so I don’t hear what others do. Have you had your hearing checked. There are a lot of things I don’t hear. If my daughter comes in the house and say Hi to me, I really jump because I didn’t know anyone was in the house! So it might be a good idea to get your hearing checked. I was amazed at what I was missing!

Do let us know how you are doing.

Hi, AdaFitchFibro I can relate with being startled. My Husband gets mad 😠 when it happens to me. He says, I'm the only person in the house with you why are you so scared? I think it's because we are concentrating on what we're doing so we don't forget, that when someone comes in we get startled. No one understands all the diagnosises of Fibromyalgia and it is different for everyone. I can relate.

My nerves can be really frayed when in heavy dangerous traffic situations.. if hubs is driving, my nerves also make him tense

Oh my gosh! This is such a problem in our house. Often my husband will "unintentionally" slip up behind me or sneak into a room I'm in without making a sound. Once he does, I literally jump and scream nearly every time. Then I get really pissed because it causes me to go into a state of panic that I find hard to come down from.
