Merry Christmas to you, too, Shelly, and to all who post here. Or Happy Chanukah, Joyful Kwanzaa, if those are your holidays celebrations.
I was feeling a little "down" today, until my neighbor/helper stopped by with some homemade brownies and some chocolate biscotti. Turns out there was a large box by my door, delivered by Priority Mail this morning. The mailman never knocked. It was from my oldest friend--we met in 10th grade about a hundred years ago, and have remained friends ever since, although she still lives in NY and I haven't seen her in over 30 yrs. For the past 4 Christmases, she has been sending me a box of gifts, large and small...a virtual treasure chest. It's the most fun opening everything. I really wasn't expecting a box this year, as she went on a trip to Greece and the Galapagos Islands earlier this month with her oldest daughter. One of the things she gave me is a beaded bracelet from Greece that is beautiful. She even included toys for my cats, although they really are past the playful stage.
Right after I'd opened everything, my "gal Friday" and friend, Ann, came by with a huge amount of food from their family dinner. There's so much ham, I'm freezing most of it. I'm taking bites of pumpkin pie as I type this, and trying not to overeat as I will regret it for days if I do.
I feel truly blessed and so thankful for all of you here.
Love and hugs,
