I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with excess gas? My stomach will swell and be rock hard. It is very painful at times. Does anyone know why this going on and do you have any suggestions? Is it even related to the Hep C? Don't have insurance so levels haven't been checked since I had gallbladder surgery last April. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hello Pasey,
I don't know for sure if it was related to his hep c but my husband had an over abundance of excess gas. He only complained of his stomach hurting with it a few times. What was actually weird about it was that before he stopped drinking they were really foul smelling. But after he quit drinking they didn't have a bad smell to them very often. He said that it took all the fun out passing gas if there wasn't any smell. (He did have a sick sense of humor.)
Do we have any other brave souls out there who would care to reply Pasey's question? Now don't be shy....LOL

Have a great evening Pasey.

Yes that happens to me too fairly regularly, unfortunately it can be otally embarrassing I have always thought that it was related more to the crohns and/or medications than from AIH, but reading this I am rethinking that. I have mentioned it to my GI doc who didn't seem too concerned about the problem. Wish I could be of more help to you.

I used to have a lot of gas, but since my surgeries it has decreased tremendously...maybe because I'm drinking less soda.  There are certain foods that exacerbate gassiness:  Beans, of course, but also carbonated drinks, both fresh and dried fruit, cabbage, raw onions and green bell peppers.  There are more, but those are what come to mind.  Also, swallowing air can cause gassiness.
