Woo Hoo! Just a quick note to share the good news. I am now active on the transplant list. It will still be a long time until I am eligible for an actual liver, but it is good to know that if a B+ liver were to trickle down, I would be considered. We celebrated with a meal that included lots of garlic. That should keep the werewolves, or vampires, away -- I don't remember which. With the garlic breath, it's probably a good thing that I don't have a GF now -- unless she were to eat as much garlic as I did, it would keep her away.
My parents arrived and are settled into the guest room. Our nap times today coincided perfectly. And while I normally strive to accomplish one thing each day, I was able to do three today. Good times!
The NYU transplant clinic has asked me to register with them, so I am going to follow up on that. I haven't checked their numbers yet but they are reputed to have a larger transplant base and are the nearest clinic 'approved' by my insurer, BlueCross. My transplant team here has encouraged me to register in the two regions to double my chances for a liver.
I hope that you all are doing as well as we do. Caregivers, take some time for yourselves so you don't burn out. Get a massage or get away for some reading time. Patients, keep the faith, down the Lactulose and have a pomegranate cocktail on me (1 oz Pom and 10 oz sodium-free seltzer).
Trying for sleep, John
I have to get up the creek! Now where's that paddle?
