As I'm sitting here in the hospital room (my second home) I'm thinking of everyone that has got me through the last year and a half.  I pray that 2009 will be good for all of you.  Rainbeau where ever you are I do think of you often.  Please check in once and a while to let us all know how you are.  Or e-mail me.  Caregiver3 (Carol) I owe you a call or e-mail but some days, weeks, months I get in a rut!  I hope you are OK.  I know your plate is full but you can do it.  I want you all to know LaBunna's husband has been doing well except for one rejection that I don't have the details yet.  Maybe she will let everyone know.  Then there is Candlelight (Joelene).  While trying to put the Angel on the top of her tree she fell and broke three ribs and did something horrible to her knee.  That was right after hernia surgery.  She is now living 24/7 on her couch surrounded by her food and her dogs.  Hopefully she will be able to post soon.  And to everyone else that has helped me understand this rotten disease.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I pray for you all.  Peace in 2009.  Then there is John whom I miss so much.  He always made me smile.  I just know some day we will see John on the post.  I'm really trying to be patient John.  But I'm NOT giving up on you.  There are some really strong positive fibs coming your way.  Again to everyone GROUP HUG!!!

JoAnn, that was wonderful!  Thank you so much for updating us on members who haven't posted lately.  Poor Joelene!  Let her know that we are thinking of her and praying she will soon feel better.

I'm so sorry that you and your husband again find yourselves in a hospital setting.  Here's hoping 2009 will be better!

dearest joann...i am here.  i am so sorry to hear about you and jerry's new years eve events. as i sit here and watch mr. wonderful's belly and ankles swell, i can do nothing but hope and pray.  it is so darn frustrating.  we have been on and off the wagon so many times this season it makes my head spin.  i'm seriously at my wit's end.  but enough about us...

so, what's the deal with the pooling?  with all his swelling, they are only draining 1-2 liters?  ***??  we went to a hematologist(yes, a hematologist not a hepatologist) who spent some time tapping on his belly and said "you don;t seem to have alot of fluid retention in your belly...just chronically low platelets because of your alcohol issues...maybe you should try meditation...let's see you in three months...alot of help that was.  i'm preparing for this pooling issue.  during the time when he was sober he lost so much weight.  the hematologist explained that the weight gain was his spleen enlarging.  so apparently his spleen is the size of a football now and his liver is not....and now he has some breathing issues. he knows how big his belly is and he wants it drained....ok...

anywho, there are no words neccessary...i'm over it.  you're over it...but we still soldier on!  or is it sojourn on...i guess it doesn;t matter.  we know what we have to do...see this thing thru.

there is an amazing meteor shower in az tonite before sunrise...which is my favorite time of day with mr. wonderful...he sleeps so much but wakes before sunrise...a gift from God.  keep your eye on the northeast sky...and know that i am with you in spirit and mind!

love and light...rainbeau

thank you for updating us on everyone......I am so sorry Jerry is having trouble. How are YOU doing?? I know this sounds horrible, but sometimes, when my hubby is in the hospital, I use that time to catch my breath so to speak....knowing there is someone to take care of him and give me a break.

Poor Jolene!! OUCH!!! I know she must be in pain.......will say some extra prayers for her.

Rainbeau.....I think you hit the nail on the head by saying we soldier on.....we are fighting on heck of a fight caring for our loved ones!!!

We went rightbefore Christmas to get my husband's MELD score updated (I despise that score)....it has dropped to a 7!!! This is very discouraging in that despite what his score states.....he is not doing well. We have not had any issues w/ ascites.....but, he is very weak, and wears out easily. Also, he is in a GREAT deal of pain. His PCP put him on morphine tablets, which don't seem to do too much for the pain, but do cause more encephalopathy issues. So, I am wondering what the heck is going on in there as he is in so much pain but our transplant coordinator says "from a liver standpoint, things are looking okay"....UGHHHHH!!!!

Butterfly, I know you have the TIPS procedure coming up. and I will pray that it is successful. I know you are scared, but know that you are making decisions to help your hubby w/ the bleeds.......I will continue to pray for you.

John......we REALLY hope to hear from you soon. We miss you around here!!

Hugs to you all
