My husband has Hep C and now ESLD--he was recently evaluated and placed on the liver transplant list. When we were evaluated by the hospital they told me to "get tested" for Hep C. They said although it was unlikely--I should still be tested. My husband was married for 17 years the first time and had 2 children--they don't have Hep C, now we have been married for 7 years and I have not been tested. We spoke to our doctors when we got married and they told us the sexually transmitted route was not really proven. Well now the seed is planted in my head. I don't really want to spend the money on the blood tests--(Insurance is crappy)--thought about buying that online test for $59.00. Any thoughts on this subject??

Jenny, I can't speak for the accuracy of the home testing kit.  You might want to ask your pharmacist about that.  However, for your own peace of mind, it's best that you get tested.  It's true that the likelihood of hep C transmission sexually is very rare, unless you've had sexual relations during your period.  But, as I said, for your own peace of mind you should probably be tested.
