I have to say, for a person who is looking for info on Hep C the resource posts are awesome.  I am not sure why, but Doctors seem to have a hard time looking you in the face and speaking frankly about serious illness (I thought that was their job???) - so this info is really helpful.  My husband is in end stage of liver disease from hep c.  He was told he had liver problems almost 25 years ago. (Actually, they hadn't even named it yet - they called it non A - non B hepatitis back then) Anyway, we are finally approved thru insurance to go to a transplant program at a hospital in California, but they are dragging their feet about admitting him -or even giving us an appointment, they apparently are concerned about a silent heart attack my husband had 7 years ago. Does anyone know of anybody that got on the liver transplant list who had a heart attack?  Do you think this will disqualify him? Any information would be really appreciated - we are getting desperate because he is just so sick all of the time.

Hello, Mermaid57, and welcome to the forum!  I know that they do take into account other health concerns when they place someone on a waiting list for a liver.  However, they need to do a complete evaluation first.  If your husband's doctor referred you, then you should follow up on at least a first appt. with the transplant center.  Then let them decide if they want to go forward with evaluation for transplant (which is a long process.)  Do you know what his MELD score is?  That is what will determine placement on a liver transplant waiting list.

Be sure to read some of the older posts.  This site can be very helpful to you.  We have a lot of great members who are very supportive, so I'm glad you found us.
