Thanks Hep93. I am currently trying to get listed for a liver transplant. Have known  of liver diease for 17 years(Hep C).  I have taken very good care of myself during that time. I had 4 diff interfreon treatments(1st lasted 6 months- last lasted 2 years).  Cleared virus each time except last. Had to  stop 9 months into treatment  virus reappeared.(genotype 1). It came back  before i could finish my 18 month treatment plan.  Recently finished all tests for possiable transplant listing. Waiting this week for answer. Kidneys are very strong and keep my meld score low(14). It was 17, 2 weeks ago. Have seen mri, catscan of liver, no cancer, but very small and looks to be fully cirroitic with ascities on top. Anytime I eat or drink(even small meals or protein shakes) i feel the distension effects, along with the fatigue factor. Taking lasix.amiloride,10mg of klor-con and calicum. trying to stay proactive in my own healthcare but the ascities and fatigue play havoc on your life! I look at this is my life now,  and try not to look back as was my life before this disease. I have at most times been able to look at this as a gift, in a strange sense. It has heighten my appitate for life, my compassion for suffering, and a better understanding of living  life in the present!  Desire to get back to my old self, seems to get in the way of living my life today in the present. Do others feel that way?   Thank you all, for all your time and postings, they have all helped me to a better understanding of what others endure!

Welcome to the forum, Gateway!  You seem to be doing all the right things.  I think we who suffer from this disease just have to take it day by day.  Since surviving liver cancer, I have had a new appreciation of life.  But there are times when the fatigue and other medical problems get the best of me, especially when I get hit by a number of things at once.  This forum is a big help, though, and I know there are others who are so much worse off than me...I really can't complain.

I know you will receive a lot of support here, so please continue posting.
