On September 29, 2009 my sister lost her fight.  Back on August 1, 2009 I made the decision to have my sister start hospice.  At the end she had no pain.  Her body was still functioning but her spirit had already left.  I had to make some tough decisions in a short amount of time but through it all my only goal was to stop my sisters suffering.  She had a very hard life, far more difficult than mine.  For her death offered a new beginning.  No more suffering only peace.  I guess that is why we are called caregivers because we have to be able to care enough to know when to let them go.
I thank you all so much for listening. God Bless

I am so sorry for your loss. You take some time to breathe, and I agree, she is at peace.
God Bless you and your family during this difficult time!

Barb, I am so sorry, but am glad that hospice was involved and she was in no pain at the end.  May she now rest in peace for all eternity.

(((BarbL64))), I am so sorry for your loss. You hit it on the button about "caring enough to let go."

It was the hardest decision in my life to call in hospice for my husband and then my brother. You have been a wonderful sister to her.

You know that you are welcome here anytime. The knowledge that you gained on your sister's journey is invaluable. Please take time to heal your loss, and come back when your able.

Lot's of thoughts and prayers..........

My heart goes out to you, I agree with PG, you cared enough to let her go. My family is going throught something at this time. I think you just gave me the strenght I needed to face things head on. I now know what to say.

Sending you love and hugs, please begin to heal and understand that grief is a process, and you certianly loved her more than you knew. She know's this too.
