Connie,Rick or anyone who can help,
I was really itchy a couple years ago and it finally stopped but, it started again and it's driving me crazy. Did this ever happen to you? I know this is a symptom but I thought that since it stopped it wouldn't happen again. Does this mean things are getting worse or is this normal? Nothing seems to work to stop the itch, Not lotion, cortisone cream,or benadryl. Any suggestions???
Thanks for any responce.

It may partially be due to winter dryness.  I am experiencing some of this myself on my feet.  Do a search on here for itching, as we've had a few recent posts listing various lotions, etc.  You may also need to get a prescription cream.  Have any of your liver levels risen lately?

My husband got very itchy this last summer. The doctor had us used creams, locations and ointments. When nothing else stem to work he was put on a stool softer (Senna-s) to get rid of some of his bile and that did the trick. You would not think a liver patience would need stool softer because of Lactulose. Check with doctor first he may not have thought of it. It took us a month to figure it out.
The human liver can produce close to one liter of bile per day. Blood from the ileum flows directly to the hepatic portal vein and returns to the liver where the hepatocytes reabsorb the salts and return them to the bile ducts to be re-used, sometimes two to three times with each meal. Fast facts thanks to Wikipedia. Hope you feel better soon.

Dee Dee,  My wife's Dr. recommended Sarna lotion to treat her periodic bouts of severe itching.  It seem to help a lot.
