Hi, Mick, and welcome to the forum! So your liver disease is from alcohol abuse? If that's it and you have stopped, you have a good chance of coming back to health...depending on how much damage your liver has sustained. The greatest risk with transplant is that one's body will reject the donor organ. Otherwise, I think that the positive factors of transplant far outweigh doing nothing. Do you mean Prandin? Check out the thread entitled Medical Word List for correct spelling of some meds and medical terms related to liver disease. I also suggest you read the thread entitled Hepatitis Resources. It contains information on liver disease in general, not just viral hepatitis.
I'm sure others will post to you about their experiences, though we tend to have a far greater membership of caregivers than patients (in most cases the patients are too ill or confused to post.)
I personally have hep C, cirrhosis, and am a liver cancer survivor.
