My hubby's wt has fluctuated between 230 and 150 in the last 7 years.
Depending on where in the cycle he was. On treatment he lost a lost of weight! When his daughter got married, he dieted. But essencially, each time he has had a medical crisis he has lost weight and gained it back when he felt better.
Most recently he was admitted to the hospital in October at 195. Now 6 months later he is about 170 with 150 mg of diuretics daily and no ascites or edema!!!
If he goes over 170 lbs, he is supposed to up his diuretics, and drop them if below 170. This is a more normal wt for him.
When he is out of balance as in the fall when he kept having episodes of acute renal failure and wound up in the hospital, he didn't much want to eat, but now he is on a more healthy diet, and holding at the 170.
I expect he will drop again if his MELD score goes up and he gets higher on the transplant list. Though I hate to think of another bout like he's just been through.
