Pbb, welcome to the forum! Progression of liver disease is different in each person, so there's no way to know how fast he will progress or has progressed. Is he under a doctor's care? Bloodwork and scans can give some indication of what is going on. You might want to read the info in the folder at the top of the page entitled Hepatitis Resources. It's not just about viral hepatitis and does give info on various stages.
He can slow the progression by eating a healthful diet; i.e., no beef, fresh fruits and veggies, and eating a very low-sodium diet.
Can you tell me why he is not a candidate for transplant?
