Here's my story. I had gone to my primary care doctor feeling very tired, to the point of almost passing out. It was normal for me, so I decided to check into it. After several blood tests were run, my primary care doctor thought it would be best for me to see a hematologist since my blood levels (red, white, hemoglobin, and platelets) were all extremely low.
I've seen the hematologist twice now with blood tests being done both times. At first, he said he didn't see any numbers on my blood test results that he thought were concerning. He initially thought I was just low on iron. After having a more detailed set of blood tests run by my hematologist, he is now of the opinion that I am indeed very low in iron, have, as he called it, smoldering Hepatitis C, and the beginnings of Cirrhosis of the Liver. I am scheduled to have an iron transfusion tomorrow morning (Monday, 4/4/11). Although it may not seem like anything to many of you with much more serious health conditions, I'm nervous about it. I've given birth to one child and that's it...no other health problems in the 27 years since then. My hematologist also scheduled me to see a G.I. doctor in May. I assume that is for further evaluation and treatment of my diseases.
I guess I don't really have a question to ask in particular. I am just nervous and would like to know if anyone else has been through or is familiar with any of the conditions I may have.
Thank you for listening and may God Bless You all .....
