I don't know how quickly budesonide works. I know that I started with 40mg pred the night before my biopsy. The day of, they gave me 100mg IV along with 4 bags of plasma to help my clotting. My prothrombin time (PT), the day before I started pred, was 20.7 with INR at 2.1. My PT was 17.1 with INR at 1.6 when I was admitted (after the one 40mg pred dose). Four days later PT was at 15.6 with INR at 1.5. A month later (still on 40mg pred as well as 1000mg CellCept), my PT was down to 11.2 (normal) and INR at 1.1. That lab's normal for PT is 9.0-11.5. So PT takes some time to normalize. Are you sure her INR is 11.5 or is that her PT? If that's her INR, I would love to know her PT.
Have you talked to them about an immunosuppressant? I'm assuming she's seeing a hepatologist?
What drugs is she on aside from the budesonide and pain killers? Did they give her any steroids IV to jump start antiinflammatory properties?
Sounds like your kids are doing as kids do....staying resilient because they don't have a full grasp on illness severity, which is great...no need for them to worry. That would be much harder for you.
It sounds like she is getting better, even though it seems slow.
