All this is tough, ABP,
Some say that the booze sort of numbs the idea of having a terminal disease, makes the pain go away for a while.
For a long time my Mike said since he was just dying, he might as well die happy. WELL, he wasn't too happy when he got so sick. NOT ONE BIT HAPPY. Legs so swollen they wept fluids. Bloody noses that wouldn't quit. NOPE. NOT HAPPY.
I really hope she sees the error of her ways.
BTW, lots of protein is important for her right now and sometimes folks don't eat right. So when Mike was really feeling like ..... we got Ensure for him to drink, his "milkshake." Or that Carnation stuff for Breakfast, he liked the chocolate mixed in milk (sometimes I put in a little half and half or ice cream--good quality). It has lots of protein. He would eat fruit and pudding. But anything really nicely seasoned was too much for him. He couldn't stand the smell. Some chicken and rice. But truthfully, they best diet is the same diet they suggest for everyone: Good lean meats, lots of fruits and veggies. Good carbs (not white stuff)---beans, grains, etc. (Mike loves Wonderbread...we argue.) Keep hydrated with WATER. Stay away from stuff that has lots of sodium...like canned soups and highly processed foods. Put the salt shaker away. Don't eat a lot of beef at all...it is the hardest for the liver to digest.
Maybe you can help with the dietary stuff and when she is ready, she'll quit drinking.
She may need some new friends...sad to say.
