I have no way to get to the memorial service for Bill, as it's being held at the hospice he was in, in another county. So I ordered a peace lily plant for delivery on Mon., and hope his sister will take it home and plant it, perhaps with some of his ashes.
The wound vac malfunctioned...not working at all. So my nurse came and took it out, replacing it with "wet-to-dry" dressings. I saw my TP surgeon yesterday and of course she wanted me to try the wound vac again. I told her I would not do so. It's something that I just can't deal with. She said that it would take a very long time to heal without the wound vac, but so be it. She said that I could do the dressing changes myself. I asked to have the nurse one more day (today) as she had some paperwork she wanted signed by the surgeon (which I did) and also a DNR order for me (which needs to be signed by a doctor.) To me, it comes down to quality of life.
So I saw the nurse today, though she didn't change the dressing. So I have to go do that now myself.
I got a call early this morning from Mayo, giving me an appt. with a plastic surgeon next Tues. The TP doc said the PS had said that a skin graft would not "take," due to the mesh in that
location. But she said he may have other options. I'm also being referred back to Wound Care Clinic.
I am glad for the weekend. I have to pack everything up for the manufacturer to pick it up. There are 2 small boxes and one large one. Also need to do some housework. And rest.
