Barry, something about
this doesn't seem right. I have been with Mike since 1980 as an intimate partner...and have never tested positive for Hep C (and I get tested every few years). When he found out he had Hep C, my PCP said he should use condoms....though by then we had been together 10 years. We did not. We WERE careful with personal grooming items.....tooth brushes, etc. Where blood could be transferred. I have gloves here if I have to tend to a cut or wound. I even glove to clean up waste. And for a while there he was pretty bad about
getting to the toilet in time. Still...no Hep C.
I would think your friend may have been separately infected. But I am not there....maybe you cut yourselves with pen knives and became "blood brothers" like we did when we were kids. (Did I live in a weird neighborhood, or do kids do that?)
Best to both of you. I figure if, at this point (68 years old)...if I lived long enough to be in ESLD I would be 98 or 108 years old...so what's the worry.
