Welcome to the forum.
I too am a caregiver/loved one of a patient with liver disease.
My partner of 32 years had a liver transplant for alcoholic cirrhosis and Hepatitis C in May 2011. He had been infected by IV drug use in his late teens. He has been clean since then and sober since September 2010.
He is a good man who, at 63 has faced his maker and got a second chance. It is good you have the blood clots under control and have found a good hematologist.
Mike sees one also as he has had blood problems in addition to Hep C and alcoholic cirrhosis.
He had AVM (tiny blood clusters) in his small bowel that were bleeding and causing serious anemia in addition to other problems. They were likely there at birth and some have them in their brain that can cause bleeding that is serious...Mike does not.
It was the hematologist that got Mike set up with the Hep doctors at the TP center where he was transplanted in May 2011.
There are many blood problems with liver disease...poor clotting, anemia, and hepatic portal hypertension that can cause bleeding from the esophagus or stomach.
Let us hear from you as you get his new symptoms diagnosed.
