What Ziff said....also, you may be trying too hard. Try letting the child show his emotions and get it all out of his system, he will let you know when he wants to talk, or when he doesn't. I found that the silent treatment works wonders in my experience with my children and hubby too.
When I say silent treatment, I don't mean the mad kind, just that I would be quiet and let some time elapse. You'd be surprised at how well it works. Pretty soon they would come to me and try to get me talking, which helped them get over their little tantrums, or bad moods. They hated to see me quiet as they figured I was sad, LOL, but it really worked for me.
Meg, I just know things are going to be fine for your son....even the doc said 75% chance of "getting better", that is conservative considering the high cure rate I've read about concerning the trials.
