Hi, I was diagnosed with stage 4 cirrhosis in Dec. I have been seeing a specialist for 2 yr due to slightly elevated LFTS . FINALLY my Dr had a spect 3 blood test done. Then I got a phone call saying I need ed a liver biospy. It came back stage 4.My DR was shocked & so was I.I have never drank. My LFTs & ultrasound are normal.Strange. The only symptoms I had was very tired & itching. So if anyone has these symptoms get a biopsy. I HAD BEEN ASKING FOR ONE FOR 2 YR. I have a great husband & family . My faith keeps me strong. We all need to keep each other in our prayers. Thanks, I'm glad I found you all. It's uplifting

Hi Nephy, Thanks for starting the new post. Unfortunately misdiagnosis does happen. The doctors that ordered my first blood work (Family practice) was convinced I had Hep.C. That diagnosis went unchanged for 3 months until a biopsy was done. Made me pretty angry about
the incompetence but in hind sight it forced me to seek proper treatment from knowledgeable doctors. That saved my life. I guess it doesn't matter how we get to the point we are at or the way we got here. It's what we do once we have the chance to turn this thing around. As you may have read in other post here we are seeing growing awareness and new forms of treatment with some very promising results everyday.
Again, Glad to have you join the forum and hope you'll contribute your knowledge or questions so that others will benefit also. It's great you have a support network. My wife, Family, friend and this forum seen me through some tough times for a few years, I'm forever indebted. We have folks here that have fought this disease alone with no real assistance. You and I are lucky.

Nephy,
I believe that folks with a good support system get better care than those that don't, for some reason. I've heard that from other people too.
Best of luck to you and please keep us updated.

hi nephy5, what is the cause of your cirrhosis, if i may ask. i also have cirrhosis but have eradicated the source, in my case hep c. glad to see your ultrasound was normal. i get an ultrasound and bloodwork every 6 months to check for cancer. cirrhosis patients are susceptable to liver cancer(hcc).
many cirrhosis patients go for many years without symptoms. when your liver begins to lose function, it will become quite noticeable. i will keep an eye out for your update.
best to you, and welcome to the team

They told you to be careful with tylenol.
, right? Just 2000mg a day including cold and pain preparations that contain it.
No booze.
Keep away from food that is hard on your liver--beef, hugh fructose corn syrup,
There are many things that can damage a liver. A good work up will figure this out.
