Hi everyone, today was a long day. 5am we, got up showed and left at 6:15 for 6:45 check in at the hospital to start a day, that I thought would be done by noon the latest. Well after signing a bunch of consent forms, giving more blood. Now it's about 9am. We waited for another 30 minutes before I was taken to the radiation room. After all the nurses, and technicians had prepared me, ie shaved me cover me, and all the internment ready, my Doctor showed up. I had already knew that I would be awake for everything. It started at 10:10 am. Needles were going left and right. Find the veins, which one was he going to. Pain medication in an IV, numb me up. Doctor telling it will feed like a bee string by my groining, but I felt nothing. Maybe because I was nervous about this procedure be done to me. The only thing I felt was hot liquid running down my groin and right leg every once in a while. Well I found out the tumor was located near my breast bone. Watching the 4 computers screens to my left was fascinating. See the tumor light up like a light bulb, and the veins highlighting showing exactly where the chemo was going. I figured that this would be the only time I would need this TACE procedure, but at 11:05 the procedure was done. The Nurses and technicians was cleaning up the mess, and my Doctor and I was discussing the procedure. He said it went find and I would need to have it done 2 or 3 more times. I was disappointed to hear this. Well back in my out patient room. My nurse had me lay still for 4 hours. No moving my head, or right leg. 3:45pm came around, I had my wife get the nurse. I didn't have any pain. But my breathing was deep and hard. My wife had noticed it when I had came back to the room earlier today. When I got out of the hospital bed I noticed that the bed was covered was blood. I guess I sprung a leak. My nurse said it was normal I just thought it was from the drugs they gave me. But I guess I was wrong. It 2am now and the breathing is this the same.
We left the hospital with new drug for pain, bmp. I got home my groin was swollen, and I had bled a little from the ride from Atlanta to Columbus (1.5) hour drive. Has anyone had this much problems with a TACE procedure? Thanks everybody Ron.
