Mike has struggled with sleep confusion for YEARS. He had his transplant 3 years ago and is just now returning to his pre ESDL pattern...early to bed and early to rise.
His Nurse Coordinator kept telling him not to nap during the day, that if he was good and tired, he'd sleep. But that never worked for him. HE NEEDED to rest and sleep in several chunks..often napping in the morning AND in the afternoon.
Lately, has been more active, less likely to nap. But he still is using a medication most nights to sleep through. He is up quick to use the bathroom a couple of times (what with all the water they want you to drink),but he goes right back to sleep if he has taken meds.
He is going to talk to the doctor about prescribing a lower dose of ambien, however, as he hates to be dependent on them...and feels a little hung over this mroning.
Best to you,
