Hello everyone, I'm back and I have great news!! I just got the phone call from my blood that was drawn last week(three months post treatment)

I was told the Hepatitis C that was once in my body is UNDETECTED, it was an emotional phone call is all I can say.

I avoided the forum the last three months because honestly after the three months treatment and being told "It's still detected and less than 12" I was somewhat worried it didn't work and wanted to try not to dwell on it daily and just enjoy the summer and I did.I went on a cool vacation through California and visited my boss and went and seen the Sequoia national park and just enjoyed myself and tried not worry too much.

Solvaldi worked, it cured me and I'm very happy and thanks again everybody for all your help and support this past year, love you all!

Thanks everyone, its amazing and I'm so glad it worked like they claimed, i was very worried after treatment when they claimed it was still detected, I thought it was a false reading and then I had thoughts I might have to do the treatment again which would have been fine but it was the darn stress of it all...just glad its now UNDETECTED and I can move on with life.

I woke up this morning with a HUGE smile on my face! It's gonna be a great weekend, actually the rest of my life will be great and no more stressing about Hepatitis C.

I hope all governments and insurance companies realize we need to drive down the price of these drugs so that EVERYBODY gets this cure asap, we will face many more worse viruses and diseases in our lifetimes and its time to torch Hepatitis out of existence like we did with Polio...regardless of income or insurance this treatment needs to be as cheap as the flu shot and needs to be covered by every insurance provided world wide.

Not offering the cure for cheap is a serious drain on the health care system, we have alot of hospital beds and doctors time being wasted because of Hepatitis C that can now be cured rather easily in 90 days for most, the *only* thing holding back the world from being treated is the unreal cost of Sovaldi and price of it is beyond the GREED level.

I'm thankful to Gilead for bringing Sovaldi to the market but I will NEVER agree with the current pricing and the GREED, they can claim they need to recover money invested to develop it but lets be honest theirs a fine line between huge profits and sickening GREED and in this case the price is so obvious its nothing but greed knowing they are the only solution until the other drugs are released sometime this year.
============================================================

Sovaldi + Ribavirin Treatment began February 6th 2014 - 12 weeks of treatment. After 4 weeks treatment VL has dropped from 4.7 Million to *79* - I've finished treatment April 30th 2014 .

VL level as of May 1 2014 is "<12 DETECTED" - Next VL test July 31 2014 and my results may change to undetected.

Hello All,

This is an update on my completed Sovaldi treatment from May to September, 2014.

My viral load was 1 million; Genotype 2; Treatment naive'; Age 56; location nyc; My pretreatment liver profiles were OK although slightly elevated enzymes and my ultrasound showed no damage.

I began Sovaldi w/ Ribavirin with no problems for about 16 days.  After then I began to feel weak.   I managed to take it for 56 days. By then my blood was anemic and I was losing weight so I stoped taking it.  My Vr Ld had become 61 by day 18 and undetectable day 40.  That was July 2, 2014.

On September   12, 2014 my Vr Ld was still undetectable (almost 6 weeks after stopping Sovaldi/Ribavirin).  The doctors urged me to take more which I did the same day blood was drawn (8/12/14).   By day 15 I got very weak and sick and I stopped TX on day 19.

So it seems I'm cured after 56 days of Sovaldi/Ribavirin.  Note all my numbers were good having only had HCV for about 15 years so I do not suggest that others do what I did.   What gave me confidence in stopping on day 56  was (beyond my 'good numbers') was that I weigh only 139 pounds and the TX was a 1 size fits all regardless of weight.   best health to everyone,  neil, nyc

neil,
Sorry to hear you had problems and stopped treatment. Many people have anemia and other side's from treatment.

I do not see the SVR results are adding up from your post, neil.

It appears you stopped early and were tested too early after you stopped treating to determine your results, other than undetectable when that last VL was done. Of course it is possible to obtain SVR when stopping early, and there is talk of new, shorter treatments in time with some treatments... but in order to determine if you actually did get SVR, you must wait 12 weeks after end of treatment for a VL. Hang in there...get one more VL and know for certain!! I wish you the very best, Big Hugs

Very happy for you Allen. Have been avoiding the forum myself, trying to stay healthy and not think about treatment ... bouncing between HE and none. Yours is very good news indeed. I'm with you on the greed comments. It's incomprehensible to me.

Best of luck and happiness to you in future!!

Thanks for Reply Themiz.
I neglected to write that I feel great since Sovaldi TX ended!! Better than I have felt in over 10 years! I'm eating more & gaining weight again (Lost 15 lbs last 2 years). Before Sovaldi TX I had become sedentary and I was a former athlete who regularly exercised & maintained my body.

I had 6 weeks undetectable HCV by August 12 and by the way I'm feeling it's a slam dunk that I'm part of the 97% cure rate.

A big thanks to all who have shared their stories here, They gave me cause to be optimistic. They also made me feel better about my own numbers.

Pre-Treatment viral load 1 million
GT #2
Age 56
Pre-Treatment Ultrasound showed no liver damage.
I was Treatment Naive'
Positive for HCV since 1999 (test several times previous years).
Weight 140 lbs.

LA Survivor,

Welcome to the Hepatitis form on HW. We have so many folks here who have successfully treated and have cleared quickly after the regimen. It is short, less toxic than other programs, and has way better statistics for sustained viral response.

My partner took Olysio and Sovaldi March - May this year and has been UNDETECTED since week 5. He doc says he is CURED. Let's hope it stays that way.

Not only did he clear the meds quickly AFTER treatment, but he started to feel better DURING treatment...once that virus was gone, my guy started to be the best he has been in YEARS. After almost 5 years he is again golfing, doing some travelling, and some days doesn't even take a nap. And he has been through ESLD and a transplant AND the treatment (plus 3 other surgeries). And NOW, virus free, it is a new day.

Good luck to you....how about you start your own thread and check in here once in a while during your treatment...let us know your genotype, your med regimen, how you are feeling, etc.

Hugs,
Mama Lama
