Good Morning Carolyn,
I hope someone is being honest with your brother about
the 6 month "documented" sobriety requirement for transplant. Since his dx is cirrhosis caused by alcohol, he can not skirt this step, if he wants to try for a transplant. Not everyone on the list will survive to be transplanted, even with the best of care. Not everyone is accepted. You need to know that some people decide not to get a transplant.
We have had some heartbroken caregiver's here, Carolyn. We will be here for you, regardless of which direction your brother chooses.
I hope he becomes willing to get the documentation as soon as possible. But no one can do this for him. Perhaps you and martijean can go to Alanon meetings. I hear it is an excellent, free resource. Big Hugs
