After all their carefully controlled trials, the truth is going to net out of the many many folks with all kinds of combinations of genotypes, present viral loads, present condition of liver, varied general health, etc etc are taking these meds.
Certainly they are keeping track of what works best in "real life" and will tweak any of the protocols along the way.
The Canadians may back off the Interferon injections, they may prolong treatment for some genotypes, or cirrhosis status. We shall see.
I am just so darn thankful that a new program was found that my partner, Mike, could take, post transplant when he was already stage 3 fibrosis in his nice new liver AND Interferon/Ribavirin intolerant! He took Sovaldi and Olysio and cleared from 3.5 M to undetected in 5 weeks. He is now 8 months post treatment and doing okay. He has some side issues I'll share on his own thread about the Heart Surgery!
